Why This Project
Mental health conversations can be difficult, especially when people feel uncertain about how to speak, listen, or respond.
This work showed me that performance and dialogue can create a more approachable way to explore complicated emotions and experiences.
The project mattered because it treated communication not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of understanding people.
How can performance, listening, and dialogue help people communicate more thoughtfully about youth mental health?
This question should be presented as a guiding question, not as a completed research finding.
How the Work Developed
01
Listen
Pay attention to the experiences and perspectives behind a conversation.
02
Prepare
Study the situation, language, and emotional context.
03
Perform
Use interactive theater to make a difficult subject more visible.
04
Discuss
Invite questions, interpretation, and different perspectives.
05
Reflect
Consider what the conversation revealed and what still needs to be understood.
HUMAN IMPACT
Creating More Thoughtful Conversations
The value of this work is not limited to a performance or presentation.
Its broader purpose is to help people approach youth mental health with greater empathy, clarity, and willingness to listen.
By making difficult situations visible and discussable, interactive communication may help students, families, educators, and mental health professionals better understand the perspectives within a conversation.
This section describes potential human value and learning, not a proven clinical outcome or measured impact.

What I Learned
Listening Before Explaining
Communication Is Part of Research
Perspective Changes the Conversation
Understanding often begins by paying attention to what someone is trying to express before offering an answer.
Research becomes more meaningful when complex ideas can be discussed clearly and responsibly.
The same situation can be understood differently depending on experience, emotion, and context.
Reflection
Research can begin by learning how to listen.
This experience strengthened my interest in psychology, behavioral science, mental health communication, and the future design of technology around human needs.
